Édouard Manet was a French painter who bridged the gap between Realism and Impressionism. His style of painting paved the way for the Impressionists such as Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh, leaving a great and vast legacy.

This season, INITIAL picked 3 paintings from Manet, including Woman with Fans (1873), Berthe Morisot (1872) and Portrait of Minnay (1879) to create a capsule collection paying tribute to the influential painter. The series includes printed one-pieces, skirts, mesh tops, short-sleeved shirts, double-layer skirts and blazers, sweaters and sweater dresses.

The 3 paintings share a cool and pale tone, reminding one of the fading autumn leaves and matching nicely with the black and earth-tone fabrics. The silky texture and sheer layers, however, add a tempting glamour under the light, allowing wearers to dress like a classic but gorgeous, elegant yet mysterious noblewoman.
